Introducing Christina and David!

About Christina and David:

Christina is a very caring and helpful child who can be outgoing, fun and loving. She can be very generous and concerned about the feelings of others. Christina enjoys camping, swimming, going to the movies, and going to church. She also loves dogs and hopes to be a veterinarian in the future. Christina is also very attached to and protective of her younger brother. David is a friendly child with a great imagination and a natural curiosity about how things work. Although he can sometimes appear shy and reserved, he can also be outgoing when he feels comfortable in his environment. David likes to play video games and enjoys building and making things and any other hands-on activities. He also likes to play soccer and dreams of being a soccer star!

Christina and David are coping with effects of a chaotic and traumatic past. Christina's moods can fluctuate and she can be oppositional toward authority. She needs guidance as she continues to develop appropriate personal boundaries and learns to make good judgments regarding her environment and personal safety. At school Christina receives additional services to address her educational needs. Though she can be disruptive in the classroom when frustrated, Christina gets along well with teachers and peers most of the time. Christina loves David and often took care of him while growing up. She will need a family who allows her to still care for him, but will also encourage her to be a child and reduce her need to parent him. David is slow to trust others due to past experiences. He needs help learning to cope with unresolved anger and low self-esteem and in learning to identify and express his feelings appropriately. David also exhibits tactile sensory aversion and does not always respond well to touch or physical affection from others. David does well academically at school, but may act out in the classroom when he does not understand the instructions or if he feels misunderstood. He typically follows classroom rules and is able to stay on task most of the time.

Christina and David need a patient and loving family who can make a firm commitment and provide clear boundaries and consistent supervision. It will be important for them to have an active family who takes a genuine interest in them and who wants to spend time with them. A family for these children should be patient with David's sensitivity to touch and should be able to demonstrate love in a variety of ways. A family for Christina and David should also have knowledge of community support services and be willing to advocate for those services when necessary.
