Charnisha is a lovely young lady. She enjoys decorating and interacting with others. Charnisha reports, “I would like adoptive families to know that I can have a hard time controlling my emotions, but I am doing better as time goes by.” She likes to help out her family by assisting them around the house. Charnisha enjoys talking on the phone, shopping and spending time outside with her friends. At school, her favorite subject is science.

Charnisha is having some difficulty fully embracing her adoption plan and would benefit from an extended period of time to familiarize herself with a potential adoptive family. She is also learning how to effectively manage her emotions and develop positive responses to her daily stresses.

Charnisha is in need of an adoptive family that will be able to provide her with an understanding and loving home. The adoptive family should have knowledge or experience in parenting children who have emotional, developmental and educational needs. Also, the family must be patient with Charnisha as she is hesitant towards her adoption plan. Charnisha would benefit from a family that can be reassuring and work with her over an extended visitation period to help her warm up and bond with a family and adjust to the home environment. It will be important for Charnisha to maintain contact with her siblings who are in another adoptive placement.
