30 Days of Adoption Wishes

In honor of November as National Adoption Month, the Michigan Adoption Resource Exchange and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services are highlighting exceptional adoptive families by fulfilling 30 wishes of 30 adoptive families in 30 days in the month of November.

Eligibility Criteria:

• The family must have finalized an adoption through Michigan's foster care system
• The family must currently reside in Michigan
• At least one adopted child must be 18 or younger and currently be living in the adoptive home

Examples of wishes:

• $200 Amazon gift card
• family zoo membership
• e-reader to provide access to literature
• digital camera to create life books
• backpacks and school supplies
• craft and art supplies
• event tickets
• passes to an amusement park or museum
• gift certificate for a family dinner
• outdoor toys
• family board games

Selection and Recognition:

The 30 families who will be recognized will be selected via a panel of judges who will review the nomination information, sans identifying information for the family.

One family's adoption story and photo will be featured per day throughout the month of November on the MARE website, and MARE and DHHS social media outlets.

The 30 selected families will be granted a wish to benefit their family!

Please be sure to include in your nomination narrative specific examples of how the nominated family demonstrates any of the following qualities:

• commitment
• resourcefulness
• collaboration
• creativity
• patience
• flexibility
• perseverance
• advocacy skills

Rules:

1. Wishes may range in cost, but should not exceed $200.
2. Wishes should benefit and/or enrich the entire family/household.
3. Fulfillment of specific wish requests is not guaranteed for nominated or selected spotlight families.
4. Only families who have a finalized adoption through Michigan's foster care system and who currently live in Michigan are eligible for this recognition program.
5. Self-entries will not be accepted and winners from the previous year will not be considered.
6. Nominations must be submitted by 5:00pm on Monday, August 12, 2024.
